Going out for a night on the town with your loved one can really add up. It can be taxing on your pocketbook and the Earth. There may be a lot of driving involved and then the expenses of a babysitter, gasoline, dinner, dessert and activity. Whew, that really is a lot for just one night.Have you considered having date night at home? At least once a month, if not more, Jayson and I have date night at home. We usually pick a weekend night when we don't have to work in the morning and put Eben to bed early. Jayson does all the cooking and I create the ambiance (with beeswax candles and soft music) and set the table. While Jayson is preparing our meal, (I am lucky that he does all the cooking, since I burn water..really.) we chat, nosh on organic chips and hummus and have a glass of organic or biodynamic wine. It is a wonderful way to reconnect and our only expense is if Jayson buys something special to make for dinner. We don't have the waste of driving anywhere and know exactly what is in the meal that we are enjoying.
After we enjoy our meal together, we usually sit outside on the patio and enjoy another glass of wine and talk about our future plans or reminisce about the wonderful things we have enjoyed together. It is one of the best things that we do together. It take being a locavore to a whole new level.
Do you have date night?

we do date nights too...although we normally go out. However, we do FREE stuff when we go out. We will go to art exhibits that are free or go to a park and walk the forest paths. If we go out to eat, we often have coupons to take the edge of the price. I think its very important to keep that dating spark in the relationship though.
We do date night every week and blog about it - and it never costs us more than $30! (that's all-up!) Your ritual sounds so lovely... do continue enjoying it together!

Hi one4earth,
We do those things as well, but usually more as family activities. I love FREE activities, they are the best. Also, Jayson is so use to me having coupons...that when we do go out to dinner, he automatically asks, "What restaurant do you have a coupon for?" I agree, the dating spark is essential for reconnecting.
