I have talked before about how every night before bed, Mr. Sweet Greens reads to Eben and myself. It is a fun tradition that we started a few years ago and it is something that we really look forward to. It is so lovely to sit, relax and listen to a good book being read to you. Don't you agree? For the month of October in celebration of Halloween, we continue our reading tradition but make it a little spooky. We draw the curtains, dim the lights, light our beeswax candles and put our reusable tea lights in all of our indoor Halloween decorations. Then we sit back relax and listen as Mr. Sweet Greens reads us spooky stories. It really gets us in the Halloween spirit and it is neat to see Eben get really excited for it. We usually have a yummy pumpkin chocolate chip cookie {recipe coming tomorrow} and homemade apple cider {recipe coming Sunday} while we listen.
We are currently reading one of the 'Goosebumps' books because that is what Eben is really into right now and last night Mr. Sweet Greens read a book that Eben found at the library called 'The Spider and the Fly.' It was a neat book to listen to and the pictures looked great next to the light of the candle. It is fun to watch Mr. Sweet Greens' face contort in the candlelight as he makes the spooky voices and sounds to go along with the book and it is also fun to see the neat shadow shapes that the candlelight casts on the walls and ceiling.
Does your family have spooky Halloween traditions?
XO
