About Jennie Lyon [Sweet Greens]

Hello. Welcome to Sweet Greens | Your Earth Friendly Guide to All Things Green.

My name is Jennie Lyon, it's nice to meet you. I am a professional green lifestyle writer and the founder and editor of Sweet Greens | Your Earth Friendly Guide to All Things Green. I also write sustainable living posts for Cascadian Farm and green parenting, children's how-to projects and green design posts for Inhabitots.

I am also the founder and owner of Jennie Lyon | Virtual Assistant Services for Small Business, Self Employed and Entrepreneurs. When I am not working away in my office, you can find me paddle boarding, bicycling, beach-combing, hanging out with my boys, reading on my balcony, thrifting, camping, walking my dogs, or sipping a really good cup of organic tea.

I am married to Jayson Lyon, also known as, Mr. Sweet Greens. Jayson is a fabulous husband, my best friend and the most wonderful part of my life. He has a way of making me laugh - no matter the situation and together we are the perfect pair - you will ALWAYS find us together. Seriously. We were married in 1999 when I was 22 and he was 27. His support, love and ideas are a constant at Sweet Greens and did I mention he does all of the cooking?

We have one amazing little boy named Eben who is 10 years old. Eben is a fantastic and funny child who makes being a mother a pure delight - he is my EVERYTHING. Eben is constantly coming up with fabulous ideas for Sweet Greens - and inspires me with his photography, passion for the environment and his fearless approach to life and the ocean.

We have two super sweet dogs, Lilly [English Bulldog]  and Noodles [Pug]. Lilly is an absolute snuggle bunny, granted this snuggle bunny weighs fifty pounds and wants nothing more than to lay on your lap. Noodles is the a sweet-heart, a ball full of energy and love.

We have lived all over the United States. Mr. Sweet Greens and I meet when we were in college in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shortly after Eben was born we moved to Palm Beach, Florida. During the housing bubble, we sold our home in Palm Beach and moved to Atlanta, Georgia for a year. Then, we were off to another adventure in one of my favorite towns, Fort Collins, Colorado. Now, we are back living on the treasure coast of Florida in a lovely little beach-side community - we can ride our bikes to the ocean in 5 minutes!

As a family we love to spend our days snorkeling and paddle boarding at one of the fabulous reefs, bicycling at our local state park, or gazing at the birds, lizards, turtles, and alligators at one of our favorite nature trails. Who could ask for more?

I started Sweet Greens as a birthday gift to myself in January 2009. At the time, my family was spending a lot of time researching and implementing green ideas into our home and lifestyle. I wanted a way to be creative everyday while sharing my green ideas with others so I decided to start Sweet Greens. I never thought that it would grow as quickly as it has or that it would turn into a career. I really enjoy writing, taking photographs and creating do-it-yourself projects - I am very grateful that I am able to do what I love everyday as a career!
